A young lady named Sally, relates an experience she had in a seminary class taught by her teacher, Dr. Smith. She says Dr. Smith was known for his elaborate object lessons. One particular day, Sally walked into the seminary and knew they were in for a fun day. On the wall was a big target and on a nearby table were many darts.
Dr. Smith told the students to draw a picture of someone they disliked or someone who had made them angry in the past. Then he would allow them to throw darts at the person’s picture.
Sally’s friend drew a picture of a girl who had stolen her boyfriend. Another friend drew a picture of his little brother. Sally drew a picture of a former friend, putting a great deal of detail into her drawing, even drawing pimples on the face. Sally was pleased at the overall effect she had achieved.
The class lined up and began throwing darts. Some of the students threw their darts with such force that their targets were ripping apart. Sally looked forward to her turn, but was filled with disappointment when Dr. Smith, because of time limits, asked the students to return to their seats.
As Sally sat down, thinking about how angry she was because she didn’t have a chance to throw any darts at her target, Dr. Smith began removing the target from the wall. Underneath the target was a picture of Jesus.
A complete hush fell over the room as each student viewed the mangled picture of Jesus; holes and jagged marks covered His face and His eyes were pierced.
Dr. Smith said only these words, “I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!” (Matthew 25:40)
No other words were necessary – the eyes of each student focused only on the picture of Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 (ESV)
Consider: Usually, the best gift we can give to anyone is the gift of ourselves – our time, our talent, our energy, and so on. God did the same for us – He gave Himself. Not only can we have a deep friendship with Him here and now, but also into eternity. His gift made the way.
Officially, “Holy Week” in the Catholic Church is the week ending with Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Our challenge is to remember that every week should be a “holy week.”
Daily, take the ancient medicine of remembering that Jerusalem’s original holy week wasn’t holy.
There was nothing churchy about the Last Supper, the way of the cross, or the ugly death on Calvary.
Yet in dirt, spit, and blood was hidden the sacred.
Jesus knew that all of it was holy because He’d hallowed all the common, messy, pain of life.
Holy Week challenges us to make every week holy.

Jesus on a Banana?
(Sydney Daily Telegraph) – An Australian woman is claiming she saw the face of Jesus on her banana – and she has the photo to prove it.
Lisa Swinton, 39, was just about to peel the fruit when she spotted the image, apparently of a bearded face with long hair. (See a photo.)
“I was like ‘Oh my God! It’s Jesus on a banana!’” she told The Daily Telegraph in Sydney.
“I got it out of the fruit bowl and was about to peel it and eat it when I saw his face.”
She took a photo but then lost the unusual specimen when one of her children ate it and the peel ended up in the bin.
“I put some photos up on Facebook,” Lisa said. “One of my friends said it looked like a monkey.”
Lisa is no stranger to holy visions appearing on day-to-day household objects.
“One of my friends said they saw the Holy Mother on their bathroom door and another saw an apparition of Mary on the mold of their shower floor,” she said.
The fateful placing of her banana bunch underneath other fruit, Ms Swinton believes was the cause of the special imprint.
“It definitely wasn’t that way when I bought it from Leichhardt Woolworths,” she said.

A 10-year-old, under the tutelage of her grandmother, was becoming quite knowledgeable about the Bible.
Then one day she floored her grandmother by asking, “Which Virgin was the mother of Jesus: the Virgin Mary or the King James Virgin?”
“Don’t just ‘get a life,’ but choose THE life, by following Jesus.”
“We can measure our likeness to Christ by our sensitivity to the suffering of others.”
