- Luke 13:10-17
- Many Christians feel bound by past sin (even if God has forgiven us). The enemy keeps throwing it in our face trying to keep us chained to the past.
- In God's eyes, sin is sin. There is no "Top Ten" List. When sin is forgiven then sin is forgiven, period.
- Steps to being set free when we sin:
- Admit when we sin.
- Understand that God distinguishes between who we are and what we've done (Romans 8:31-39).
- We have to realize that we need to move towards God.
- We need to believe that God has totally forgiven us (and live like we believe it).
- We must continue on because great things await.
- The enemy works to put us down and remind us of past mistakes so that we won't feel worthy enough to join God at work around us.
- But look at Jesus-- He didn't dwell on the woman's past (like people tend to do), he set her free.
- Colossians 1:22-- God deals with our past, but doesn't dwell on it.
- Philippians 3:13-14-- Paul had a past and everybody knew about it, but he didn't keep reliving his mistakes over and over-- he moved on.
- Only God can truly heal our wounds.
- 2 Corinthians 5:15-- Christianity is not about what we do, but what's been done for us.
- Psalm 103:10-- Don't beat yourself up because of the past (forgiven sin). God doesn't.
