There are three types of faith in Jesus Christ: Struggling faith, like a man in deep water desperately swimming; Clinging faith, like a man hanging to the side of a boat; Resting faith, like a man safely within the boat (and able to reach out with a hand to help someone else get in).
Faith doesn't just get excited about heaven, salvation, and blessings. Faith also believes what God says about hell, chastisement, and condemnation. Faith is moved with a thrill in God's benefits; Faith is also moved with a fear of God's chastening. Faith is what enables you to believe that the refrigerator light really goes out when you close the door. Faith is to believe what we do not see. The reward of faith is to see what we believe. Faith is that link which binds our nothingness to God's omnipotence. Faith is more a way of walking than it is of talking. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives from God, the impossible. Fashion is something that goes in one year and out the other. Fathers give daughters away to other men who aren't good enough so they can have grandchildren that are better than anybody else's. |
