Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
It's always easier to say the kind thing to someone that to have to apologize for being unkind. The safest road to Hell is the gradual one-- the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts. Abiding in Him is not a work that we have to do as the condition for enjoying His salvation, but a consenting to let Him do all for us. God always builds on ruins. As sure as ever God puts His children in the furnace, He will be in the furnace with them. He who knows himself best esteems himself least. God worketh for him that waiteth for Him. You know what I like to do in my spare time? Blink. Or if I have a chunk of free time, scratch my nose. Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength. |
Fear is faith in the wrong person-- YOU! Quit trusting yourself and put the entire weight of your trust in the strength of God.
Our faith should be our steering wheel, not our spare tire. Those who live in the Lord never see each other for the last time. Obedience to God today is the best preparation for tomorrow. Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be. I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up by asking Him to do His work through me. Readiness and ability for any work is not given before the work, but only through the work. Your need is so small compared to His ability to meet it. The only ultimate disaster that can befall us is to feel ourselves at home on this earth. God insists that we ask, not because He needs to know our situation, but because we need the spiritual discipline of asking. |
