Humility is like underwear-- essential, but indecent if it shows.
The job many people spend most of their time at-- is the job of hiding what they really are. We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. One who never asks questions either knows everything or nothing. Some things come out better without our help... like a bud opening into a beautiful flower. People who tell you never to let little things bother you have never tried sleeping in a room with a mosquito. Unless Jesus is Lord all, He cannot be Lord at all. If you have Christ on the inside, you can stand up to any crisis on the outside. I have a great need for Christ. I have a great Christ for my need. It is out of order to invite the Lord Jesus into the parlor of our hearts if we entertain the devil in the cellar of our habits. |
If the Lord Jesus isn't worth serving every moment of every day, then He is not worth serving any moment of any day.
Do you do your job each day well enough that you would hire yourself? If you don't enjoy what you have now, how can you be happier with more? Those who have experienced the true joy of the Lord will never be satisfied with merely having fun. The most miserable people in all the world are those who make pleasure a business. A bitter world cannot be sweetened by sour Christians. A rejoicing Christian is one of God's best advertisements. The man who insists on seeing with perfect clearness before he decides, never decides. Man weighs your actions but God weighs your intentions. There is always enough time in a day to do God's will. |
