One should give more concern to making a life than making a living.
To rise to the top you must first get to the bottom of things. Don't think you are necessarily on the right road because it's a well-beaten path. One makes a living by what he gets; he makes a life by what he gives. Jumping to conclusions is not nearly so good a mental exercise as digging for facts. If you were on trial, accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Unless there is within us that which is above us, we shall soon yield to that which is about us. So live, that as people get to know you better, they will get to know Christ better. Live each day as if it's your last-- it may be. Nobody knows the age of the human race, but all agree it is old enough to know better. |
The man who cannot live for Christ in his home has no business giving a testimony for Christ in the church.
It is much better to suffer for the truth than to be rewarded for a lie. It is hard to make guests feel at home when all the time you are wishing they were. There are four directions for the Christian to look: Look back-- and praise Him; Look up-- and trust Him; Look around-- and serve Him; Look ahead-- and expect Him. To obtain God's best, we must give our best. To win, we must surrender. To live, we must die. To receive, we must give. Live in such a way that the preacher can tell the truth at your funeral. Some people are so heavenly minded they are no earthly good. Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can, at all the times you can, as long as you can. Live the life if you are going to talk the talk. The faith of some is a dead faith. Such people substitute words for deeds. They know the correct vocabulary for prayer and testimony, but their walk does not measure up to their talk. They think that their words are as good as works, and they are wrong. |
