The fellow who sings his own praise often gets it in a key that's too high.
Be an "amen" Christian, but don't shout it louder than you live it. If your walk is not consistent with your talk, you will frequently put your foot in your mouth. It's not good enough just to be good-- be good at something. Be like a good watch-- have an open face, busy hands, full of good works, pure gold, and well regulated. The easiest thing to confess is-- my neighbor's sin. A misconception: You go to church to receive vegetables, not the meat. The meat of God's word you must dig out yourself, with His help. Those who can see God's hand in everything can best leave everything in God's hand. As Christians, we should always work "heart to heart" even though we do not always see "eye to eye." What counts most is not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. |
The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the creator.
Work with me not against me. "I have an article I'd like you to read. It's called 'Professionalism: The Hidden Curriculum.' You'll find it in the gray folder you received at the beginning of the semester. Please read the whole article, not just the summary." America is a nation where they lock up juries and let the criminals go out on the streets. Remember, when you point your finger at someone else, you have three fingers pointing back at you. A good way to avoid heart trouble-- don't run upstairs and don't run down people. If you tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe, he'll believe you. But if you tell him a park bench has just been painted, he has to touch it to be sure. Some people aren't interested in anything unless it's none of their business. I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. I stand watching her until she fades on the horizon, and someone at my side says, "She is gone." Just at the moment when someone says, "she is gone," there are others who are watching her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout, "Here she comes," and that is dying. Susie: "Why does your grandma read the Bible so much in her old age?" Jeannie: "I think it's because she's cramming for her final exams." |
