The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Progress always involves risk; you can't steal second base and keep your foot on first. If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well. When you hire people who are smarter than you are, you prove that you are smarter than they are. The worst bankruptcy in the world is the one who has lost his enthusiasm. When we have done our best, we should wait the result in peace. When two men in business always agree, one of them is unnecessary. Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals. The first problem for all of us, man and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn. |
Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
Opportunities are usually disguised by hard work, so most people don't recognize them. I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something; I will not refuse to do the something I can do. It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself. Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway. God does not ask your ability or your inability. He asks only your availability. People who fight fire with fire usually end up with ashes. You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist. I keep the telephone of my mind open to peace, harmony, health, love, and abundance. Then, whenever doubt, anxiety, or fear try to call me, they keep getting a busy signal and soon they'll forget my number. An archaeologist is the best husband a woman can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her. |
